Priest Lake is now open to harvest all year long. Early anglers are reporting good numbers of fish in the six to ten pound range.
Try the area off of Baritoe Island and points to the west of Four Mile Island.
{July 1, 1999) Today a new world record Mackinaw Lake Trout was successfully landed at Priest Lake. Tiffany White, an
experienced 13 year old angler from Mossy Rock, Washington was the lucky fisherman. Tiffany was fishing with professional
outfitter and guide Gary Brookshire of Priest Lake Guide Service. The fish was caught in 130 foot of water just of Pinto Point
in Indian Creek Bay on Priest Lake. The record fish took a Frisky Jenny fly trolled on a downrigger. After about a 30 minute
battle, Tiffany landed the fish in a torrential downpour of rain. After her unaided battle, Tiffany was much tired! The fish was
photographed and measured according to the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) requirements and then released
unharmed. The fish was 41.5 inches long and had a 23 inch girth. The calculated weight was 27.44 pounds. The current world
record slot for a junior female in the catch & release lake trout category is open. Tiffany's fishing buddy, Don Crawford, had
the current IGFA records and forms on the boat. Don currently holds 13 world records himself. The required documentation
has been submitted along with photographs and line samples to the IGFA. When the IGFA accepts the entry, Tiffany will hold
the world record for the largest lake trout in the junior female, catch and release division.
